The Death March

As I think I've mentioned before, I'm hoping to walk the Bataan Memorial Death March at the end of next month. I haven't done any real training for the past couple weekends, so of course we headed out today. We walked for an hour and a half, then turned around. That's when it got bad. Turning around meant we were suddenly walking INTO the wind that had picked up quite a bit on the way out. It was miserable. I was miserable. J tried to block the wind for me a little, but it kept shifting around. We somehow managed to get back to the Jeep in the allotted hour and a half. I was then treated to a venti black tea latte (nonfat milk) and a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. I got the drinks at Starbucks while J got the bagels at Einstein Bros. and we met in the middle to eat. Got home and inspected my feet. Left one has 2 blisters on the pad, 1 each on the pads of 2 toes, and a small one on the outer edge of my pinkie toe. Right foot just has the pinkie toe bl

It's Almost March

I lost 4 pounds in January. I have lost maybe 1 pound in February. I also haven't been tracking my food well this month. Some days not at all. So for March, I'm going to start tracking again. I've told myself that if it's too frustrating to get every single ingredient of my meal in, I will find something close and call it good. If I can at least get a good idea of what I'm eating, and round up on my estimates, then I'm in the clear. Also have a friend who wants to lose weight. Her oldest is old enough for preschool now, so she's thinking of putting the younger one in day care at the same time and hitting some classes at the gym. I said I would join her. Would be great to get a strength training class in. I made it to my first yoga class last week and loved it. It felt good, and I wasn't the only one there who didn't know all the moves. I will probably miss it this week, but J will be getting off of staff duty Tuesday morning and we might go to lu

WTF Is Up With My Arm?

I took a nap this afternoon. Woke up with a sore arm. The shoulder is sore, the elbow is sore, and the soreness spreads to the wrist. I have no idea what I did. So my good friend Laura came and spent some time visiting. She brought her 2 dogs with her. Belle is a 7 year old pug mix that I've known for a long time. She apparently ate too much of her little sister's food and put on weight. She's a pretty mellow dog. I adore her. Lilly is a 1.5 year old boston terrier. Energetic. Dominated Remy. Of course, Remy just rolled over and let her. He eventually learned that he could play tug-o-war with her. They had so much fun. She's a good girl. Apparently, Remy and I are both exhausted from their visit, which is why I ended up taking a nap today. Now, Laura visiting means I walked around some, but didn't really work out this week. I did go for a short bike ride with J yesterday and this morning. I guess I possibly did something to my arm on the bike ride(s). Then sle

Drama Update

DJ translated the legal garblings for me. Tom was originally charged with a felony theft but it was reduced to petty theft, a misdemeanor. So yay, my brother isn't a felon. Just a thief. Also, why the hell don't the libraries in this city open on Friday mornings? I always forget this, but they don't open until 1300 on Fridays. It sucks. I wanted that book.

Drama Sucks

I have to write about this because my brain will not stop turning it over and over. It kept me up for 2 hours in the middle of the night. My brother called my mom and sister yesterday. Mom was working and couldn't talk. Dotti, unfortunately, got drawn in, thinking he might want/need her help. She's not the bitch I am (which is probably why I didn't get a call). He claimed he'd done jail time for stealing money from work. It dwindled down into an argument with his wife, as always. So I did some research. First, he was found guilty of Battery/Domestic Violence and given 2 years probation. Then he was found guilty of felony theft. He did some jail time for the theft and probation violation. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that my brother has a felony on his record now. And that his wife would still be with him after being found guilty of both domestic violence and felony theft, all while claiming she never wanted to marry him in the first place. This is wha

The Mutt

So the mutt is still jumping into our neighbor's yard. I've caught him twice today. It's only the yard right next door now, since they have a dog. I just spent about 10 minutes watching him from the back door. When he would stand up in the corner (on his back legs) I would knock on the screen door, which is pretty loud. It would distract him enough that he didn't jump, but I had to keep watching. Tomorrow I'm going to by a tether. I'm going to get one that screws into the ground and has a nice, sturdy cable tether. Not a chain. Then, when he leaves our yard without permission, he'll be put on the tether. See? This is what happens when you don't stay in your own yard. If he's being good and playing in his own yard, no tether. We can also take it camping with us if he starts wandering off. Stick with us, or get tethered. Those are your options. It will probably go with us to Wyoming in June as well. He hasn't been around chain link much, so we

Shoe Woes

So J and I took our snow day and turned it into Remy's birthday celebration. We drove him up to Ruidoso, NM , and took him to the gourmet doggy store, No Bones About It. Great place for dog and cat stuff. He got a light blue doggy backpack as his gift. Had to get him a size Small since he's so skinny! We also got him a big doggy cookie shaped like a bone that says Happy Birthday on it. Oh, and a donut cookie. Then we headed to the store that's supposed to carry the new Merrell shoes I've been waiting for, which were finally released Tuesday. I had called this morning to make sure they would be open and asked about them. He said they had gotten some in a couple weeks ago. Yay, right? Wrong. Apparently he misunderstood me and was referring to an order of VFFs they got in. Their Merrell order won't be in until March 10. That's a month away!! I had wanted to get the shoes as soon as I could and get used to them/break them in, in time to wear them for the Bat
