Meet Duke. He's 8ish years old. Rescued in 2005 from Lawrence, KS Humane Society. They found him as a stray, but already neutered and declawed in front. He is the epitome of a house cat. He won't even pee outside.

And then came Rembrandt. He's 2. We adopted him in 2010 from Animal Rescue League of El Paso. His mother was found as a pregnant stray. Rem was born at the shelter. He's a goof ball.

workin' on my fitness

Some of you may not realize that I used to be a skinny thing. Back in high school I weighed all of 120 pounds. College and life afterward changed that. Back in winter of '08 to '09, while J was away at OCS, I started dieting. It wasn't any kind of fad diet, I just counted calories, fat, carbs, and protein. I also was a member at Jazzercise, which I still miss a little. I lost 20 pounds while he was away. I was down from 180 to 160. Then we moved, and I somehow wasn't able to keep it up. It was easy when I was just feeding myself, but when I started cooking for both of us again, it all went to shight. It didn't help that the Jazzercise clubs down here are ridonkulous about their schedules, so I didn't keep that up. I did start running last year, but kept hurting my ankle. I have a love/hate relationship with running now. Now that we are living on post, I have put 15 pounds back on. Not good. And I have no willpower when it comes to food. But I'm trying ...

Why Do I Blog?

My friend wrote a post that inspired me: Learning As We Go: Why we blog So why do I blog? I've been at this for a long time now, in a different format. It started with LiveJournal . At that time, it really was an online journal , not a blog. I had that for I don't even know how long. It has communities and you have a friends list. I loved it. Until there was trouble. I vented a little after my wedding and it lead to a big fight between siblings. Thankfully we got over it, but my LiveJournal never really did. It went friends only, and I wrote less and less. I wanted something more public. I decided I needed a change of scenery. So I tried blogger. It started with the bra blog. I still had my LJ at this time, but needed a public forum for the Bra Crusader . And blogger links with my google account. Win. Then came Tough Crackers .
